  • Being part of the Attachment Lab is truly a one-of-a-kind experience! The lab provides a prime environment for both professional and personal growth. Through Dr. Zaki’s unparalleled mentorship and support, the incredible team, and unprecedented research, this lab has shaped me in many ways. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to be part of this team and to contribute, even in a small way, to something so profound!

  • My experience at the lab has been extremely enriching to say the least. Every task you complete and every interaction you have with anyone throughout the process, you walk away from having gained something. It’s impossible not to learn. Our mentor Dr. Nour consistently makes this possible by creating an environment that is clear and focused but also warm and open. I’m grateful to Dr. Nour for including me as part of the lab and to every single one of my team members and university staff who have made the lab what it is. I also deeply appreciate every parent and child who has put their trust in us and helped move this noble vision forward.

  • My experience in joining the Attachment Lab not only keeps adding to my professional and research experience, but also to my personality and love for the field of Psychology. Working with a diverse team of people who all follow the goal of testing Attachment Theory in practice through the Strange Situation Procedure for the first time in the Arab world feeds the excitement of myself and all of us to work hard on the project and see it bloom. I have had the privilege of attending observations, of coding, and of meeting a number of interested caregivers and their children. All of which added to my expertise in research and my interpersonal skills as well, under the supervision of Dr. Nour with the support of her tremendous experience and enthusiasm.

  • Being part of the Attachment Lab was one of the most informative and eye-opening experiences that I have ever encountered! Learning about the Strange Situation firsthand helped me discover my core interests in psychology and helped me strengthen the foundation of my understanding of the different attachment styles, as well as how different attachment styles can echo different ways of emotional regulation and development, which can later predict one’s interpersonal relationships. I feel I developed a lot academically and personally through the different observations I took part in and the discussions we had. It was a very unique practical learning experience that not only allowed me to learn more about the Strange Situation but also about the technicalities of research in the field of psychology. It is truly amazing!
